WANDER

To Wander...

To go with no goal.

To find,  without searching.

Cone Denim, AMK Atelier and Tonello,  invite you to wander along,  through a uniquely mindful collection.

Moving freely, through the Dutch Dunes, into birdsong.

Ease your mind.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS

Being nurtured by nature benefits both our physical and mental well-being, as reported by the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction. Their research cites the benefits of nature therapy on mental health and wellness. Studies have shown that spending time in nature is therapeutic. The simple act of spending time outdoors has been associated with lower rates of depression and reduced stress.

CONE DENIM - Green line selvedge

Through their green selvedge fabric, Cone Denim supports Mental Health Awareness in a partnership with the Child Mind Institute. The Mental Health fabric has a neon green ID stands for mental health awareness. Made from Cone Denim selvedge, this collection has an authentic, 80s-inspired construction in 100% cotton. Cone Denim donates up to five percent of total sales of the fabric from this collection to The Child Mind Institute.

WASH  & DYEING

SUSTAINABLE WASHES IN ITLAY - TONELLO

The collection is washed in Italy by Tonello with sustainable and humble wash techniques. No harmful chemicals have been used in the process, and water and energy saving has been a central focus in creating the wash recipes.

The soft coloured khaki utility vest is dyed with a plant-based garment dye technique. Tonello has developed natural dyes for industrial scale productions. The colour comes from a plant called reseda.

NATURAL DYED INDIGO - BLUEPRINT AMSTERDAM

We also got the opportunity to work with natural indigo in the inspiring studio run by Celia Geraedts, of Blueprint Amsterdam. The fabric is carefully tie-dyed by hand in a 400 liter vat with beautiful natural Indigo. The fabric was dipped around 6 times to achieve the correct shade.

AMK ATELIER

My name is Maria Gunnarson and I’m the owner and designer of AMK Atelier. My partner Arne and I enjoy spending our time outdoors, so it was natural to design an outdoor collection based on our lifestyle in the CONE DENIM mental health fabric.

DESIGN & CONCEPT

The designs are inspired by function, movement, and quality. I wanted to create durable garments to wear in nature. By using pleats, darts and round shapes the garments will be super comfortable to wear while moving, hiking, cooking or chilling out and about!

CREATE THE COLLECTION

All pieces are carefully designed in the AMK atelier. Concept, designs and fits are developed from pattern drafting to final product in the atelier.

Cutting, stitching and finishing is done in the small micro factory.

CUTTING - TESS HELPT

I had great support from Tess who helped me by cutting out the fabrics, joining me on the scout for the photo shoot location and modelling during the development process and in the final photo shoot.

PHOTOGRAPHY

SHOOT ON FILM - EDUARD NIJGH

Eduard Nijgh is a photo- and videographer. He directed, shot and edited the video for the Wander collection. All the still images were shot with this 1976 Hasselblad 500C/M camera on film.

KENNEMERDUINEN - NATIONAL PARK

Zuid Kennemerland National Park stretches from Zandvoort to IJmuiden, at a 40-minute drive from Amsterdam. The ever-surprising expanse of dunes, from country estates along the outer edge, through rugged dunes towards the North Sea beach, is the habitat of countless special animals and plants.

MUSIC, MODELLING & CONCEPT - ARNE RUIJTER

Arne has been a big inspiration in creating this collection. Together we have designed the ultimate outdoor outfits for our adventures in nature, living in our camper car. Arne's passion for nature and bird life has taught me new ways to see my surroundings. He has contributed to this project in every stage; from ideas and concept, to fittings, texts and quotes, audio recordings of both voice over and music for our final video.
